Week three college football comes to Joan C. Edwards Stadium where the Marshall Thundering Herd host the Kent State Golden Flashes.
The Kent State Golden Flashes go on the road looking for consecutive victories when they visit Marshall. The Golden Flashes avoided the upset bid of Howard to defeat the Bison 38-31 as a 25 point home favorite. Howard won the battle for yards 452-399 but Kent State seemed to find the endzone every time they got close. Quarterback Nick Holley completed 8-16 for 105 yards but did throw for a pair of touchdowns and no interceptions which is solid production for a Kent State attack that generally doesn’t light it up through the air. Holley paced the Golden Flashes on the ground with 119 yards and a trip to the endzone on 21 carries while Will Mathews added another 64 yards on ten totes. Jordan Rankin led the Golden Flashes with four catches for 47 yards and a TD and Raekwon James only reception was a 25 yard score.

The Marshall Thundering Herd look to grab their second win when Kent State comes to town in week three action. The Thundering Herd put up a tough fight against North Carolina State but dropped a 37-20 decision as a here touchdown road dog. The Thundering Herd were competitive in yardage with a 486-453 deficit but a pair of turnovers and no running game hurt offense. Marshall needed more on the ground but Keion Davis was the lone bright spot with 74 yards on eight touches for a hefty 9.3 yard average. Chase Litton and the passing attack gave the Thundering Herd much more punch with a 26-43 performance for 350 yards and a pair of touchdowns and a pick. Thundering Herd receiver Tyre Brady enjoyed a monster day with eleven receptions for 248 yards including a 75 yard touchdown.
Kent State are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game and Kent State are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall while the over is 7-1 in Kent State last 8 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game. I think the Thundering Herd have a passing game that will create problems for Kent State and I think this is a game Marshall needs some consistent scoring for a full four quarters…
