The Miami (Ohio) Redhawks tangle with the Cincinnati Bearcats in their annual rivalry for the Victory Bell. The Redhawks rebounded from a disappointing loss to Marshall in the season opener to down the Austin Peay Governors 31-10 as a 35 point favorite. Miami rode their defense and some opportune scoring as they outgained the Governors by a slight 294-270 despite a 21-11 edge in first downs and a sturdy 35+ minutes in time of possession. Alonzo Smith was the top Redhawks runner with 85 yards on 22 carries for just under four yards per try. The Miami (Ohio) passing attack didn’t have a big day but produced when the opportunity arose with quarterback Gus Ragland completing 11-23 for 145 yards and three touchdowns. James Gardner was the best player on the field with five receptions for 117 yards including 42 yard and 32 yard touchdowns.
The under is 6-0-1 in Cincinnati last 7 games after accumulating less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game and Cincinnati are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS win while the under is 3-0-1 in Cincinnati last 4 non-conference games. The over is 4-0 in Miami (Ohio) last 4 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game and Miami (Ohio) are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 versus AAC while the under is 6-1 in Miami (Ohio) last 7 home games. Cincinnati are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 meetings and the underdog is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings while the under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings.
I think this is the best opportunity the Redhawks have had in this matchup in years but it seems wrong laying any points with this team…
