The Virginia Tech Hokies look for their second victory over a ranked team to improve to 5-0 on the season. The Virginia Tech Hokies have won seven of their last eight home games. Josh Jackson is completing 65.2 percent of his passes for 1,127 yards, 11 touchdowns and one interception. Jackson has eight touchdown passes in his last two games. Cam Phillips and Sean Savoy have combined for 686 receiving yards and six touchdowns while C.J. Carroll has seven receptions. The Virginia Tech Hokies ground game is averaging 218.2 yards per contest, and Travon McMillian leads the way with 162 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Virginia Tech is allowing 10.3 points and 311.3 yards per game. Tremaine Edmunds leads the Virginia Tech Hokies with 33 tackles, Andrew Motuapuaka has 2.5 sacks and Trevon Hill has one interception.

The Tigers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 conference games, 4-0 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Hokies are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games, 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games in September and 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall. The home team is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings, the underdog is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings and the under is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.

Clemson has beaten Virginia Tech in four straight meetings and besides last years contest, the previous three weren't close at all. The Tigers are argubly the best team in the country right now, as their combination of offense and defense is impressive, and they're proven with victories over Auburn and a road win over Louisville. Clemson is a scary football team right now and makes a case for being better than a year ago. However, Virginia Tech is still a really good defensive team and has the coaching staff that will put together a gameplan to slowdown Clemson's playmakers. Also, there may not be a tougher place to play at night than Lane Stadium, as the crowd is nasty and it gives the players that extra boost of energy. I wouldn't be shocked if Clemson found a way to open this up, but I see value with the points, especially with us getting the hook.
