The Northern Illinois Huskies head to the west coast for a week five college football matchup at the San Diego State Aztecs.
The Northern Illinois Huskies look for their third straight win when the team faces the San Diego State Aztecs on the road in week five. The Huskies come off of an unexpected 21-17 upset of the Nebraska Cornhuskers as an eleven point road dog. NIU was outgained 384-286 and had the ball for under 24 minutes so the offensive side of the football didn’t set the world on fire. However, the Huskies defense came up huge with Shawun Lurry recording an 87 yard pick six while Jawuan Johnson added a 25 yard pick six to give the team a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Daniel Santacaterina led a short ball control passing attack by connecting on 15-22 for 128 yards with Christian Blake catching five balls for 77 yards. Jordan Huff gave the Huskies some punch on the ground with 105 yards on 16 carries including a touchdown run midway through the 4th quarter that was the winning score.

Northern Illinois are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall and Northern Illinois are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games on grass while Northern Illinois are 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating less than 275 total yards in their previous game. The under is 3-0-1 in San Diego State last 4 non-conference games and the over is 4-0-1 in San Diego State last 5 games after allowing less than 275 total yards in their previous game while San Diego State are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game.
My thoughts on this is I’m not confident laying two touchdowns. By the same token, Northern Illinois has to do something offensively and coming off an extra week to prepare the team should be competitive…
