The Ball State Cardinals open their conference schedule at the Western Michigan Broncos in week five. The Cardinals saw their chance at a three game winning streak go by the wayside in a 33-21 defeat at the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers where both sides of the ball came up short. Both teams finished with around 370 yards with five turnovers between them so this wasn’t a clean game that was easy to watch for fans of offense. Ball State leaned on the passing of Jack Milas who connected on 18-36 for 267 yards and a pair of interceptions including a pick six late in the 4th. Justin Hall was the Cardinals top receiver with five receptions for 98 yards while Malik Dunner and Caleb Huntley combined for 101 rushing yards on 28 carries with three touchdowns.

I don’t believe points will be easy to come by for Ball State who must control the scoreboard and limit mistakes to be competitive. If the Cardinals want to have an opportunity to win this game will be more defense then offense…
