The Akron Zips are looking for consecutive victories when the Ball State Cardinals visit in a week six matchup. The Zips avoided a three game skid with a 34-23 road win versus the Bowling Green Falcons as a field goal favorite. Akron was outgained 376-361 and gave the ball away three times which normally would spell disaster but the Falcons lost two fumbles and threw a pair of interceptions including a 38 yard pick six by Kyron Brown. The Akron offense were just effective enough on the ground with Van Edwards Jr. posting 70 yards and a TD on 14 totes while Manny Morgan totaled 50 yards on eleven touches. The Zips were productive in their short passing game with quarterback Thomas Woodson hitting 13-24 for 168 yards and two touchdowns and interception with Austin Wolf grabbing a 43 yard TD pass and AJ Coney snagging a four yard scoring throw.
