The Kent State Golden Flashes visit Huskie Stadium to take the field with the Northern Illinois Huskies in week six college football.

The Kent State Golden Flashes go on the road to butt heads with the Northern Illinois Huskies in week six. The Golden Flashes come off of a 27-13 loss to the visiting Buffalo Bulls as a 7.5 point underdog which has the team staring at a 1-4 record. Kent State did move the football better then we have seen and posted a 444-377 edge in yardage although running the ball wasn’t a strength. Justin Rankin, Kavious Price and quarterback George Bollas combined for 92 yards on 21 carries which is the extent of the Golden Flashes success on the ground. The Kent State passing game lost Nick Holley to a season ending knee injury but George Bollas looked good versus the Bulls as he hit on 17-26 for 242 yards with Dustin Crum going 2-4 for 78 yards with a 74 yard touchdown to Price. Trey Harrell was the top Kent State receiver with six receptions for 122 yards.

NIU vs. Kent State - 10/7/17 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Northern Illinois Huskies begin the conference slate with a visit from the Kent State Golden Flashes in week six. The Huskies fell to 2-2 on the season following a 34-28 loss at the San Diego State Aztecs on Saturday night. NIU tried to come back from a 31-14 deficit at the half but mistakes eventually took too big of a toll. Northern Illinois owned a 429-263 yardage advantage but that edge was negated by four turnovers. The Huskies rushing attack was good when Jordan Huff was running as he piled up 148 yards on 25 carries. Daniel Santacaterina was up and down in the air as he connected on 24-39 for 269 yards and three touchdowns but three interceptions including a pick six were difference makers. Christian Blake topped the Huskies in receiving with 160 yards and two TD’s on 13 catches while Spencer Tears caught five balls for 105 yards with an 81 yard score.

Kent State are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game and Kent State are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games overall and the over is 5-1 in Kent State last 6 games following a double-digit loss at home. Northern Illinois  are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games overall and under is 5-0 in Northern Illinois last 5 home games and under is 6-1 in Northern Illinois last 7 games on fieldturf. Road team is 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 meetings and under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Northern Illinois and Kent State are 1-7-1 ATS in their last 9 meetings.

I have this game a around -20  but the way each team has performed makes me wonder if this is really worth touching. I’ll take Northern Illinois for now and look further in to this one…
