The Central Michigan Chippewas go on the road to face the Ohio Bobcats in week six college football.
The Central Michigan Chippewas look for a change in momentum when the team pays a visit to the Ohio Bobcats in MAC action. The Chippewas are coming off of a 28-8 road defeat to the Boston College Eagles as a 10.5 point underdog. The Chippewas were outgained 309-296 and lost the turnover battle 3-2 so this was dominated by defense which is the type of game the Eagles excel in. The Chips tried to establish a respectable rushing attack and Kumehnnu Gwilly did have some success with 61 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries while Jonathan Ward and Romello Ross combined for 54 yards on nine totes but that wasn’t enough to shake BC. Central Michigan needed more from quarterback Shane Morris but a 21-42 performance for 171 yards was hurt by three interceptions. Tony Poljan caught three passes for 61 yards and Ward recorded ten receptions for 49 yards but the Chippewas couldn’t stretch the field.
The Ohio Bobcats will be shooting for their 4th consecutive victory when MAC rival the Central Michigan Chippewas come to town. The Bobcat-s ran their record to 4-1 following a 58-50 shootout victory at the Massachusetts Minutemen. UMass won the yardage battle 550-495 but Ohio won the turnover war 2-0 which was crucial with defense being so scarce. The Bobcats received a huge effort from quarterback Nathan Rourke as he connected on 13-24 for 181 yards and a pair of touchdowns while running for another 113 yards with TD’s of five and 17 yards on 16 touches. AJ Ouellette pace a bruising Ohio ground game with 125 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries while also catching a 26 yard pass for another score. Brendan Cope pace the Bobcats receiving C=corps with seven receptions for 126 yards and a 16 yard scoring strike. Julian Ross set up another score with a 67 yard kickoff return but special teams gave up a few long returns as well.
Under is 4-0 in Central Michigan last 4 games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game and under is 4-0 in Central Michigan last 4 games following a straight up loss and under is 9-1 in Central Michigan last 10 vs. a team with a winning record. Ohio are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games on fieldturf and over is 4-0 in Ohio last 4 games after allowing more than 450 total yards in their previous game and over is 5-0 in Ohio last 5 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game. Under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and Central Michigan are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 meetings and favorite is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 meetings.
This line scares me a bit because I prefer Ohio as a small favorite at most and I don’t like what I saw from the Bobcats defense. Right now I’ll lay the chalk and revisit this later…
