The Rice Owls and the Army Black Knights take the field in week six college football action.
The Army Black Knights visit the Rice Owls in week six in search of win number four of the season. The Black Knights come off of a 35-21 victory over the UTEP Miners on Saturday as a three touchdown home favorite. Army was not supposed to have any trouble with the Miners but were tied 14-14 heading in to the intermission before taking control over the final two quarters. The boxscore heavily favored the Black Knights who owned a 433-262 yardage edge behind their vaunted option that averaged over seven yards per touch. Army quarterback Ahmad Bradshaw completed 3-5 for 80 yards and a 43 yard touchdown throw to Jordan Asbury but Luke Langdon’s lone pass turned in to a 53 yard pick six late in the 4th. Army was strong on the ground with Andy Davidson totaling 100 yards on 14 touches with a touchdown followed by Bradshaw with an eleven carry, 93 yard performance.

The Rice Owls look to get in the win column with the Amy Black Knights bringing their option to town. Rice fell to 1-4 on the season after suffering a 42-10 defeat at the hands of the Pitt Panthers as a three touchdown underdog. Pitt piled up 479 yards with 410 and four touchdowns coming through the air while the Owls totaled 277 yards with mistakes and struggles on the ground sticking out. Austin Water was the best running option with 39 yards on six touches while logging a pair of receptions for 73 yards including a 70 yard catch and run for six. Quarterback Jackson Tyner connected on 15-32 for 222 yards and a touchdown and three interceptions with the Panthers returning one for 34 yards and another for 24 yards. Rice fell behind 28-0 at the intermission and were forced to throw but this offense needs help on the ground to help take the pressure off of Tyner and the passing attack.
Army are 0-4 ATS vs. a team with a losing record and over is 4-0 in Army last 4 vs. CUSA and under is 5-1 in Army last 6 road games. I don’t think there is enough points for me to back Rice and to be honest Army’s performance against UTEP wasn’t great and that is a worry laying the chalk although it’s Black Knights or nothing in my view…
