We have some SEC conference action on the gridiron, as the Arkansas Razorbacks take on the South Carolina Gamecocks in week 6 college football action on Saturday afternoon.
The Arkansas Razorbacks will look to build some momentum after getting back to .500 with a 42-24 win over New Mexico State that evened their record up at 2-2 this season. Austin Allen threw for 264 yards, 3 touchdowns and an interception on 19 of 26 passing. Devwah Whaley led the Hogs ground attack with 19 carries for 119 yards and a touchdown, while Chase Hayden added 48 yards and a pair of touchdowns with his 12 carries. Jordan Jones led the team with 84 receiving yards on 4 receptions, while Deon Stewart hauled in 4 balls of his own for 71 yards. Jonathan Nance caught a team-high 6 passes for 58 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the win. Defensively, the Razorbacks combined for a pair of sacks and an interception, while allowing 355 yards of total offense to the Aggies, including just 11 yards on the ground.

The South Carolina Gamecocks will look to bounce back after a 24-17 loss to Texas A&M in their last outing to send South Carolina to 3-2 this season, including 1-2 in SEC play. Jake Bentley completed 17 of his 30 pass attempts for 256 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Ty’Son Williams led the team with 14 carries for 73 yards on the ground, while Shi Smith led the team through the air with 3 catches for a team-leading 86 yards and a touchdown. Hayden Hurst caught a team-high 6 passes for 76 yards and Bryan Edwards caught 4 passes for 68 yards, while OrTre Smith caught a TD pass of his own in the loss. Defensively, an Ulric Jones sack and a Keisean Nixon fumble recovery highlighted an otherwise pedestrian outing from the Gamecocks defense, allowing 396 yards of total offense to Texas A&M in the loss.
Arkansas is 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games following a win and 0-5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 road games against a team with a winning home record. South Carolina is 3-1-2 ATS in their last 6 conference games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a loss while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. Arkansas is 9-4 ATS in the last 13 meetings between these two teams.
The trends say that Arkansas will fall flat on their face in this one, but a pair of losses and a narrow one point win over Louisiana Tech doesn’t inspire much confidence in me to back the Gamecocks here. Arkansas is playing with some aggression and confidence after their tune-up against New Mexico State and I think while the public conception is a big South Carolina win, I think Arkansas can shock some people so I’ll take the Razorbacks here.
