We have some Mountain West conference action on tap as the Nevada Wolf Pack take on the Colorado State Rams in a college football matchup on Saturday night.
The Nevada Wolf Pack will look to build some momentum with a huge upset after notching their first win of the season, a 35-21 victory over Hawaii in their last outing to improve to 1-5 and 1-1 in Mountain West play this season. Ty Gangi led the team under center, going 25 of 32 passing for 278 yards, 4 touchdowns and an interception, while also rushing for the 5th Wolf Pack touchdown in the win. Kelton Moore led Nevada with 19 carries for 216 yards, while Wyatt Demps led Nevada’s receiving corps with 7 catches for 111 yards and 2 TDs. Trevion Armstrong added 52 receiving yards, while Moore and McLane Mannix each logged a TD grab in the winning effort. Defensively, Nevada combined for 4 sacks and an interception, while giving up 477 yards of total offense to Hawaii in the win.

The Colorado State Rams will look to build on back-to-back wins to start conference play, after a 27-14 victory over Utah State improved the Rams’ record to 4-2 this season. Nick Stevens threw for 293 yards and 2 touchdowns on 22 of 31 passing in the win, while Dalyn Dawkins led the team with 121 rushing yards on 21 carries and Izzy Matthews added 84 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. Michael Gallup led the Rams with 7 catches for 88 yards, while Olabisi Johnson and Detrich Clark each chipped in 4 catches and Dalton Fackrell and Cameron Butler each logged a TD grab for the Rams in the win. The Rams’ D combined for a whopping 7 sacks, stifling the Utah State offense, allowing just 212 yards of total offense and giving the Aggies the rock for just under 23 minutes in the time of possession battle.
Nevada is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 11-4-1 ATS in their last 16 road games against a team with a winning home record while the under is 19-7 in their last 26 road games. Colorado State is 9-0 ATS in their last 9 conference matchups and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games following a win while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 home games. The under is 6-0 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.
As good as Colorado State is, Nevada deserves some credit, as they hung around with Northwestern in their opener and are a couple of close games away from being a .500 team. This is the first time Colorado State has been a sizeable favorite in this matchup, and the only time the Rams were this heavy of a favorite this season, they failed to cover a 31-point line against Abilene Christian. I think this is too many points to give a Nevada team that can hang with the Rams offensively, so I’ll take the Wolf Pack and the boatload of points here.
