The Ohio Bobcats have their eyes on the MAC East crown when the team visits the Akron Zips. Ohio moved a step closer to the East title with 38-10 thrashing of the Toledo Rockets for their 4th straight victory as a field goal home dog. The Bobcats were strong on both sides of the football with a 532-316 yardage advantage to overcome three turnovers. The key to Ohio’s success was eliminating the Rockets on the ground and by limiting Logan Woodside to 263 passing yards.

The Akron Zips look to become Bowl eligible when the Ohio Bobcats come to town. Akron’s postseason hopes took a step back in a 24-14 defeat at the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks as an 11.5 point road underdog. Akron was outgained 420-273 and intercepted a pair of passes but Redhawks quarterback Gus Ragland still threw for 244 yards and three scores while Miami averaged 5.2 yards per touch on the ground.
Akron needed to run the ball well enough to help backup quarterback Kato Nelson but that didn’t happen with Manny Morgan totaling 41 yards on ten totes. Nelson had some accuracy problems with a 19-38 effort for 218 yards but he was the only real source of production for Akron with a touchdown through the air and on the ground. Kwadarrius Smith was the Zips top receiver with 69 yards on six receptions.
