FIU trailed by just a 24-23 margin with 5:07 left in the 3rd quarter, however, allowed the Old Dominion to score 13 unanswered points in which the Golden Panthers couldn’t fight back from. FIU outgained Old Dominion by a 487-439 margin and lost the turnover battle by a 2-0 margin. Leading the way for the Panthers was QB Alex McGough who completed 35 of 50 passes for 323 yards with 2 TDs. On the season, FIU is averaging 22.4 ppg on 388.1 total yards per game (233.1 passing yds/g, 155.0 rushing yds/g). USA TODAY Sports

The Florida Atlantic Owls won their sixth straight game and improved to7-3 (6-0 C-USA) on the season after defeating the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs 48-23, this past Saturday. Florida Atlantic used a 22-point 3rd quarter to pull away from Louisiana Tech and secure the victory. The Owls outgained the Bulldogs by an 512-415 margin however, lost the turnover battle 1-0. Leading the way for Florida Atlantic was RB Devin Singletary who carried the ball 18 times for 104 yards and 3 TD. On the season, the Owls are averaging 39.4 ppg on 462.7 total yards per game (187.7 passing yds/g; 275.0 rushing yds/g). Offensively, FAU is led by RB Devin Singletary who has 22 TD on the season while averaging 136.0 rushing yds/g on 20.5 att/g. QB Jason Driskel has completed 64.2% of his passes on the season for 6 TD and 3 INT while averaging 136.0 passing yds/g. The Owls receivers are led by WR Willie Wright (3.6 rec/g, 49.3 yds/g, 3 TD), WR DeAndre McNeal (2.6 rec/g, 35.2 yds/g, 2 TD), and TE Harrison Bryant (3.0 rec/g, 38.5 yds/g, 4 TD). Defensively, FAU is holding their opponents to an average of 26.2 ppg on 431.3 total yards per game (240.8 passing yds/g; 190.5 passing yds/g). The Owls have forced 24 turnovers on the season and have an overall turnover margin of +15.

The Golden Panthers are 5-1-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Owls are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 conference games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a straight up win of more than 20 points.

FIU had their 3-game winning streak snapped after a surprising loss at home against Old Dominion, however, the Golden Panthers still have been one of the better C-USA teams this season led by their defense that is ranked 57th in scoring defense. FAU has had quite a season under first year head coach Lane Kiffin and has been outstanding on the offensive end throughout the season ranking 10th in college football in scoring offense. Florida Atlantic has won six straight and as I wasn’t too impressed by the FIU defense last week that struggled slowing down both the passing and running attack of Old Dominion, I’m taking Florida Atlantic to cover this spread at home.
