We have some SEC action on the gridiron as the Texas A&M Aggies face off against the Ole Miss Rebels in a college football matchup.
The Texas A&M Aggies will look to build some momentum after snapping a mini 2 game losing streak with a 55-14 rout of New Mexico to improve to 6-4 on the year. Nick Starkel threw for 416 yards and 4 touchdowns on 21 of 30 passing, while Kellen Mond completed 8 of his 11 pass attempts for 78 yards and a touchdown of his own. Trayveon Williams led the Aggies with 28 rushing yards and a score, while Keith Ford added a ground TD as well. The Aggies had 3 100-yard receivers in the win, with Roshauud Paul leading the way with 7 catches for 129 yards, while Christan Kirk added 120 yards on 4 catches with a touchdown and Jhamon Ausbon added a TD grab of his own with 7 catches and 105 yards. Damion Ratley had 3 catches for 58 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Camron Buckley’s 3 catches turned into 44 yards and a touchdown grab of his own. It was a solid outing for the Aggies defensively, holding New Mexico to just 144 yards of total offense with an interception, a sack and a forced fumble.

The Ole Miss Rebels will also be looking to build on a pair of back-to-back wins, including a 50-22 blowout of Louisiana-Lafayette in their last outing. Jordan Ta’amu threw for 418 yards, 3 touchdowns and an interception on 28 of 36 passing, while also rushing for a pair of touchdowns as well. Jordan Wilkins ran for 124 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries, while D’Vaughn Pennamon added 55 rushing yards and Eric Swinney added a rushing score of his own in the win. A.J. Brown was the star of the show for Ole Miss’ receiving corps, hauling in a whopping 14 passes for 185 yards and 2 touchdowns. DaMarkus Lodge added 3 catches for 95 yards and a touchdown, while Dawson Knox and Van Jefferson each had 3 receptions as well. Defensively, the Rebels logged a pair of sacks and held Lafayette to a 3 for 13 mark on 3rd down but still gave up 427 yards of total offense in the win.
Texas A&M is 5-2-1 ATS in their last 17 games overall and 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 conference games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 road games. Ole Miss is 4-12-1 ATS in their last 17 games overall and 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 conference games while the over is 11-1 in their last 12 home games. Texas A&M is 0-5 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
Although I feel that Texas A&M has the deeper offense, especially on the ground, this Rebels team just seems like a different group with Ta’amu under center. And I can’t completely ignore the fact that Ole Miss has covered the spread in all 5 all-time meetings with Texas A&M, so I’ll take a shot with Ole Miss at home here.
