USA TODAY Sports

The Wyoming Cowboys improved to 7-3 (5-1 MW) on the season after defeating the Air Force Falcons 28-14, this past Saturday. Wyoming lost QB Josh Allen to injury, but was able to extend the Cowboy win streak to 3 behind a stout defensive effort. The Cowboys were outgained the Falcons by a 378-229 margin and won the turnover battle by a 3-1 margin. Leading the way for Wyoming was RB Trey Woods who carried the ball 11 times for 47 yards and a TD. On the season, the Cowboys are averaging 24.4 ppg on 277.8 total yards per game (174.9 passing yds/g; 102.9 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Wyoming is led by QB Josh Allen who has completed 56.2% of his passes on the season for 13 TD and 6 INT while averaging 165.8 passing yds/g. The Cowboys and Allen have talented receivers in Austin Conway (4.3 rec/g, 38.8 yds/g, 2 TD) and C.J. Johnson (2.1 rec/g, 34.2 yds/g, 5 TD). The Wyoming backfield is led by Trey Woods (12.4 att/g, 46.2 yds/g, 2TD) and Kellen Overstreet (6.1 att/g, 22.6 yds/g, 3 TD). Defensively, Wyoming is holding their opponents to an average of 18.1 ppg on 334.1 total yards per game (156.8 passing yds/g; 177.3 rushing yds/g). The Cowboys have forced 27 turnovers on the season and have an overall turnover margin of +17.

The Bulldogs are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 13-3-1 ATS in their last 17 games overall. The Cowboys are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS win and 5-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.

Fresno State has been one of the better team in the MW this season and has been led by their defense that currently ranks 15th in scoring defense. Wyoming is best known due to their talented QB, Josh Allen, however, the Cowboys have won 6 of their last 7 games largely due to their defense that ranks 14th in scoring defense and 1st in turnover margin. We’ll have to keep an eye on the status of Josh Allen, however, even if he doesn’t play, I think the Wyoming defense will give the Bulldogs trouble and will win this one outright. Take Wyoming.
