Overview: Head coach Rocky Long has San Diego State poised for a 4th straight double digit win total.
Offense: The San Diego State offense is under the leadership of three year starting QB Christian Chapman who has yet to break the 2,000 yard plateau due to the run heavy style of offense. The Aztecs are hoping Fred Trevillion can increase his 12 catch, 327 yard performance as he becomes the top returning receiver. With the departure of Rashaad Penny SDSU will look to Juwan Washington to power the running game after totaling 759 yards in 2017. San Diego State sports another dependable offensive line so the rushing attack will be productive once again.
Defense: The San Diego state defensive line is anchored by DE Chibu Onyeukwu and tackle Noble Hall while leading tackler LB Ronley Lakalaka looks to improve on 82 tackles in 2017. Linebacker Kyahva Tezino gives the Aztecs another productive player after he made 59 stops a season ago. The San Diego State secondary returns playmakers Parker Baldwin (76 Tackles) and Tariq Thompson (5 interceptions)
Special Teams: John Baron II gives the Aztecs a consistent placekicker who connected on 12-15 field goals in 2017 while experienced punter Brandon Heicklen is also back. Juwan Washington will also be in the mix for the kick return job.
Outlook: San Diego State will once again lean on their running game and defense to win games and that should be enough to give the team a shot at ten wins.
