The Blue Devils lost their top runner in Cameron Nash but return several key player led by quarterback Jacob Dolegala who threw for 1,953 yards in 2017 for an offense that averaged 29 points.
Drew Jean-Guillaume will get the bulk of the carries in the CCSU rushing attack after totaling 550 yards a year ago while the receiving corps gets back Courtney Rush and Jose Garcia who combined for around 800 yards on 47 receptions.
The Ball State Cardinals were never a factor in 2017 but much of the woes can be attributed to the offense which was wiped out by injury at quarterback, running back, receiver and the O-Line. QB Riley Neal received a another year of eligibility after a bad right knee ended his 2017 campaign and he will play catch with Justin Hall and Riley Miller.
James Gilbert also returns to give the Cardinals running game a huge boost after a thumb injury ended 2017 after just three games. Gilbert ran for over 1,300 yards in 2016 and Caleb Huntley totaled 1,003 yards in his stead so the backfield has plenty of punch. The Ball State defense still is the Wild Card after allowing 48 points and the return of Brandon Martin and Jacob White at linebacker and safety Bryce Cosby gives the team it’s three top tacklers.
Over is 4-0 in Ball State last 4 Thursday games and Ball State are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games overall and Ball State are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games on fieldturf.
The key here is Ball State has a healthy offense that will score points and Central Connecticut State allowed over 400 yards and 26 points a year ago. The Cardinals will surpass both on the way to a cover…
