The Air Force Falcons battle the FAU Owls on Saturday in week 2 college football action.
The Air Force Falcons come into this game looking to maintain their momentum after a 38-0 win over Stony Brook in their season opener last time out. Joseph Saucier led the Falcons with 71 rushing yards on 10 carries, while Cole Fagan, Arion Worthman, Isaiah Sanders and Donald Hammond III each had a rushing TD, with Fagan turning his team-high 18 carries into 67 yards while Worthman came right behind with 66 yards. Defensively, Kyle Johnson recorded a 32-yard pick-six, while Garrett Kauppila and Dailen Sutton tied for the Falcon lead with 4 tackles each in the win.

The FAU Owls will look to bounce back after being on the wrong side of a 63-14 beatdown at the hands of Oklahoma in their last outing. Chris Robison led the Owls’ QB’s with 157 yards on 15 of 26 passing, while Devin Singletary led the Owls ground attack with 18 carries for 69 yards and a touchdown. Kerrith Whyte, Jr. added a rushing score of his own, while Tavaris Harrison, Jovon Durante and Willie Wright each had a team-high 4 catches with Harrison leading FAU with 57 receiving yards. Defensively, the Owls combined for 3 sacks as a team, with Rashad Smith, Azeez Al-Shaair, Zyon Gilbert and Korel Smith tying to the team-high with 3 tackles each.
Air Force is 16-5 ATS in their last 21 non-conference games and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 13-3 in their last 16 road games. FAU is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 home games and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 games following a loss.
I think the general assumption would be that a solid FAU team would bounce back here against Air Force after being humiliated by Oklahoma last week. However, I’m not going to be that quick to count out Air Force as the option offense can be hard to stop and FAU isn’t a world beater on the defensive side of the ball. All in all, while FAU will find this an easier test than last week, I still see Air Force doing enough to keep this one within single digits so I’ll take Air Force and the points here.
