The Colorado Buffaloes and Nebraska Cornhuskers meet Saturday in college football action at Memorial Stadium.

The Colorado Buffaloes look for their third straight 2-0 start after beating up on Colorado State, 45-13. The Colorado Buffaloes have lost four of their last five road games. Steven Montez is completing 88 percent of his passes for 338 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Montez has two or more touchdown passes in five of his last seven games. Laviska Shenault Jr. and K.D. Nixon have combined for 323 receiving yards and two touchdowns while Jay MacIntyre has one reception. The Colorado Buffaloes ground game is averaging 258 yards per contest, and Travon McMillian leads the way with 103 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Colorado is allowing 13 points and 284 yards per game. Nate Landman leads the Colorado Buffaloes with 16 tackles, Jase Franke has one sack and Drew Lewis has two pass deflections.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have an extra week to prepare after their season opener against the Akron Zips was canceled due to poor weather. The Nebraska Cornhuskers have lost four straight home games. As for the team itself, Scott Frost comes over from UCF and his perfect season, and there’s going to be pressure to turn his school around. Offensively, Nebraska has an experienced offensive line and two reliable wide receivers in Stanley Morgan Jr. and JD Spielman, but it comes down to finding a consistent quarterback in order to improve this offense. Defensively, Erik Chinander is the new defensive coordinator and will bring that aggressive, playmaking attitude to this squad that wasn’t good a year ago. After changing positions, Ben Stille has a chance to really shine this season for the Cornhuskers. The Nebraska Cornhuskers have won five of their last six regular season openers.

The Buffaloes are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games, 8-17 ATS in their last 25 games on fieldturf and 4-11-1 ATS in their last 16 games overall. The Cornhuskers are 1-9-2 ATS in their last 12 home games, 1-4 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games overall. The Buffaloes are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 meetings in Nebraska, 11-4 ATS in their last 15 meetings and the over is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings.

The Colorado Buffaloes are a solid football team that's well coached and explosive offensively. Montez is one of the better quarterbacks the casual fan hasn't heard of. It's going to be interesting to see how the Nebraska Cornhuskers handle not playing a warm up game against Akron, as this isn't easy, not only facing a quality team but also not being able to iron out the wrinkles of having a new coach and new starters. The Colorado Buffaloes have failed to cover six of their last seven games as an underdog of at least three points. I'm siding with Nebraska here, as I'm not getting enough points to back Colorado in a tough venue. Nebraska should have the advantage in the trenches and has the explosive playmakers to match the Buffaloes score for score. I'll eat the small chalk.
