The Liberty Flames continue their foray in to FBS college football with a week three bout against FCS foe the Norfolk State Spartans.
THIS GAME HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER AND RESCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 1st.---The Norfolk State Spartans saw their offense stall in a 17-0 loss against visiting James Madison in week two. This game was called after one quarter thanks to storms in the area. James Madison showed why they are the number two team in the FCS with a 129-29 advantage n total yards despite playing just 15 minutes.
Spartans quarterback D’Andre Thomas completed just 1-5 for five yards and an interception. Aaron Savage led Norfolk State on the ground with eleven yards on five carries with Chuma Awanna recording the lone reception.
The Liberty Flames looked fantastic on opening day but found the Army option too tough in a 38-14 loss in week two. Liberty was outgained 510-417 with three turnovers while the Black Knights rolled up 449 rushing yards.
Flames quarterback Stephen Calvert connected on 19-37 for 307 yards and a pair of touchdowns and an interception. Damian King topped the Liberty receiving corps with 172 yards on eight receptions and a score while Kentory Matthews totaled 81 rushing yards on nine touches.
