The FIU Golden Panthers will visit the Miami Hurricanes at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday in intrastate college football activity.
FIU is currently 2-1 on the season thus far. After an opening-week loss 38-28 to Indiana, the Panthers won their next two games 28-20 versus Old Dominion and 63-24 against UMass.

In the UMass game, FIU QB James Morgan led the way on 207 yards, two touchdowns and a pick, while Shawndarrius Phillips posted 117 yards and two scores to lead the rushers. Phillips also led the Panthers in receiving with three catches for 56 yards.
Over on the Miami side, they are currently 2-1 on the young season. The ‘Canes fell 33-17 to a very good LSU team in the opener, then blew past Savannah State 77-0 and Toledo 49-24 to come into this one rolling.
In the Toledo matchup, Miami QB Malik Rosier posted 205 yards and two scores, while DeeJay Dallas led the rush on 17 carries for 110 yards and a TD. Jeff Thomas was the lead Hurricanes receiver with his five catches for 105 yards and a TD.
The Panthers are 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall and 4-1 ATS versus a team with a winning record. FIU is 4-1 ATS in their last five non-conference games and 4-1 ATS in their last five in September.
Meanwhile, the ‘Canes are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 following an ATS win and 4-1 ATS in their last five in September. Miami is 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall and 1-4 ATS in their last five on grass.
The Panthers did a good job of spreading the ball around against UMass, even though a lot of it was in garbage time with a big lead. Miami had the misfortune of a tough draw to open the season, but since then has done their part against lesser teams. This one is a tough call. The line sounds about right, but I think FIU has a better chance at getting in there than Miami does at covering. I’ll go Panthers here.
