The Boston College Eagles and Purdue Boilermakers meet Saturday in college football action at Ross-Ade Stadium.
The Boston College Eagles look for back-to-back road victories to start 4-0 for the first time since the 2007 season. The Boston College Eagles have won each of their last four road games. Anthony Brown is completing 68.8 percent of his passes for 626 yards, nine touchdowns and zero interceptions. Brown has 13 pass completions this season of 25-plus yards. Jeff Smith and Kobay White have combined for 331 receiving yards and five touchdowns while Ben Glines has four receptions. The Boston College Eagles ground game is averaging 285.6 yards per contest, and AJ Dillon leads the way with 432 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, Boston College is allowing 23 points and 363.7 yards per game. Connor Strachan leads the Boston College Eagles with 25 tackles, Wyatt Ray has five sacks and Hamp Cheevers has two interceptions.
The Purdue Boilermakers need a feel good victory here to avoid their first 0-4 start in well over a decade. The Purdue Boilermakers have lost five of their last eight home games. David Blough is completing 70.4 percent of his passes for 694 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Blough and Elijah Sindelar have combined for 977 passing yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions. Rondale Moore and Brycen Hopkins have combined for 437 receiving yards and three touchdowns while Jared Sparks has 13 receptions. The Purdue Boilermakers ground game is averaging 195 yards per contest, and D.J. Knox leads the way with 252 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Purdue is allowing 30.3 points and 475 yards per game. Derrick Barnes leads the Purdue Boilermakers with 25 tackles, Cornel Jones has 2.5 tackles for loss and Kai Higgins has one interception.
The Eagles are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 road games, 4-1 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games and 11-1-1 ATS in their last 13 games overall. The Boilermakers are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games, 5-2 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games in September. The over is 4-1 in Boilermakers last 5 games overall and the over is 5-0-1 in Eagles last 6 games overall.
The Boston College Eagles have become an explsoive offensive team out of nowhere, as this squad is much more than Dillon carrying the rock 20-plus times a game. Boston College has nine different players with at least one receiving touchdown and other running backs have shined despite limited roles. The Purdue Boilermakers have lost all three games this season by a combined eight points, so while the record is ugly, this is a team that could very easily be undefeated and looking like a Big Ten West contender. Purdue has also covered seven of its last nine games as an underdog of any kind. However, there's something to be said about Purdue being on the wrong side every time, and the lack of offensive weapons will hurt them in this game. You have to be able to score against BC, and there's just not enough weapons for the Boilermakers outside of Moore. I'll eat the chalk here.
