The Oregon State Beavers will travel to Sun Devil Stadium to take on the Arizona State Sun Devils this Saturday night in College Football action.

The Oregon State Beavers lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 1-3 (0-1 Pac-12) on the season after being defeated by the Arizona Wildcats, 35-14, this past Saturday. Oregon State had a surprisingly difficult time putting up points against the Arizona defense and couldn’t fight back after the Wildcats took a 28-7 lead with 13:23 left in regulation. Oregon State was outgained by Arizona by a 594-238 margin  and allowed Arizona to rush for 442 yards in the loss. Leading the way for the Beavers was QB Conor Blount who completed 17 of 24 passes for 137 yards and 2 TD’s. On the season, Oregon State is averaging 32.0 ppg on 454.8 total yards per game (271.3 passing yds/g; 183.5 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Oregon State has been led by the RB duo of Jermar Jefferson (18.5 att/g; 118.3 yds/g; 6 TD) and Artavis Pierce (11.0 att/g; 129.5 yds/g; 3 TD). Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona State Sun Devils lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 2-2 (0-1 Pac-12) on the season after being defeated by the 10th ranked Washington Huskies, 27-20, this past Saturday. Arizona State gave Washington all they could handle, however, struggled offensively agianst the tough Washington defense and couldn’t fight all the way back after falling behind by a 27-13 margin with 10:59 left in regulation. Arizona State was outgained by Washington by a 373-268 margin and had only 16 first downs in the loss. Leading the way for the Sun Devils was RB Eno Benjamin who had 104 rushing yards and a TD on 26 carries. On the season, Arizona State is averaging 26.5 ppg on 393.0 total yards per game (265.5 passing yds/g; 127.5 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Arizona State has been led by QB Manny Wilkins who has completed 64.8% of his passes for 7 TD & 1 INT while averaging 265.5 passing yds/g. The top receivers for the Wilkins and the Sun Devils have been N’Keal Harry (6.5 rec/g; 83.8 yds/g; 4 TD), Kyle Williams (3.5 rec/g; 42.8 yds/g), and Frank Darby (2.3 rec/g; 42.8 yds/g). Leading the way for the Sun Devils backfield has been Eno Benjamin who had 2 TD’s on the season and is averaging 70.8 rushing yds/g on 17.0 att/g. Benjamin also has been solid out of the backfield in the passing game as he has 18 receptions on the season for 127 yards and a TD. Defensively, Arizona State is holding their opponents to an average of 18.8 ppg on 352.5 total yards per game (215.8 passing yds/g; 136.8 rushing yds/g).

The Beavers are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Sun Devils are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games.

Oregon State’s offense has shown that it’s capable to put up some points, however, it’s going to be a long season for the Beavers as their defense currently ranks 127th in the country when it comes to scoring. Arizona State has lost their last two games, however, even in the losses, Herm Edwards has to be happy that there were very competitive agianst two solid teams in San Diego State and Washington. Arizona State is always a better team when they are at Sun Devil Stadium and as I think their defense will limit the Beavers offense, I expect Manny Wilkins and company to have a good enough day on the offensive end to cover this spread. Take Arizona State to cover.
