The Old Dominion Monarchs look to build on their biggest win in school history after shocking the Virginia Tech Hokies. The Old Dominion Monarchs have lost six of their last seven road games. Blake LaRussa is completing 61.8 percent of his passes for 678 yards, five touchdowns and zero interceptions. LaRussa and Steven Williams have combined for seven touchdown passes and two interceptions this season. Jonathan Duhart and Travis Fulgham have combined for 754 receiving yards and seven touchdowns while Isaiah Harper has 15 receptions. The East Carolina Pirates need a feel good victory here to get back to a .500 record. The East Carolina Pirates have lost six of their last nine home games. Reid Herring is completing 53.1 percent of his passes for 852 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. Herring has six pass completions of 25 or more yards this season. The Monarchs are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games in September and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Pirates are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 home games, 3-7 ATS in their last 10 vs. CUSA and 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall. The over is 9-4 in Pirates last 13 non-conference games and the over is 4-1 in Monarchs last 5 road games.
It's going to be interesting to see how the Old Dominion Monarchs respond to the biggest win in school history. More attention, more press, I'm sure it won't be easy for ODU to tune things out and properly prepare for a road game against East Carolina. The East Carolina Pirates have held their own despite a tough schedule and the defense doesn't appear to be the same turnstile that ranked dead last in yards allowed per game a season ago. The bottom line is that we can't let one victory change how you completely view ODU, a team that lost to Liberty by 42 points in its season opener and lost to Charlotte as a small favorite. The Monarchs need to prove to me last week wasn't a complete fluke. I'll lay the reasonable chalk with East Carolina at home.
