The South Carolina Gamecocks will be looking to build on a 37-14 win over Vanderbilt in their last outing that got the Gamecocks back above .500 at 2-1 this season. Jake Bentley has thrown for 780 yards on 71 of 104 passing this season with 6 touchdowns and 3 interceptions while Rico Dowdle leads SC with 235 rushing yards and a pair of rushing scores this season. The Kentucky Wildcats will look to remain unbeaten after cracking the top-25 at #17 with a 28-7 win over Mississippi State in their last outing. Terry Wilson has thrown for 463 yards, 2 touchdowns and 4 interceptions on 67.1% passing this season while Benny Snell Jr. leads the Wildcats on the ground with 540 yards and 7 touchdowns this season. Lynn Bowden Jr. is the Wildcats’ leading receiver with 20 catches for 200 yards and a touchdown this season. As a team, Kentucky is averaging 427.2 yards of total offense per game including 269 yards per game on the ground, good for the 11th-best mark in the country in addition to 34.5 points per game. The Wildcats are also extremely stingy on defence, holding their opposition to just 13.2 points per game this season.
South Carolina is 5-0-1 ATS in their last 6 road games and 7-3-2 ATS in their last 12 games overall while the under is 9-2 in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record. Kentucky is 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall and 7-20 ATS in their last 27 home games while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 home games against a team with a winning road record. South Carolina is 0-5 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
Okay, I must be missing something, yes South Carolina has the better pass attack, but the Wildcats are rolling right now on offense with Snell Jr. leading the charge and sitting in the top-10 in the country in terms of scoring defence. Right now you could argue that the Wildcats are the better team, and while they’re not overly proven, I think getting the better team as an underdog sounds pretty good so I’ll roll with Kentucky to keep their solid start going.
