The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and the Troy Trojans meet in week 5 Sun Belt conference college football action from Larry Blakeney Field in Troy, Alabama on Saturday afternoon.
The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will look to build on their 3-1 start following a 30-28 win over Louisiana in their last outing. Kilton Anderson has thrown for 564 yards on 69.6% passing this season with 6 touchdowns and an interception. Marcus Outlow has a team-high 358 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns on 66 carries while Torrance Marable is right behind with 262 yards and 4 touchdowns rushing. Ky’Jon Tyler leads the Chanticleers’ receivers with 217 receiving yards while Malcolm Williams has a team-high 16 catches with each owning 2 touchdown grabs this season. As a team, Coastal Carolina is averaging 443.8 yards of total offense per game, including 269.2 rushing yards per game, good for 11th in the FBS this season along with 37.5 points per game this season.
The Troy Trojans will also be looking to build on a 3-1 start, winning 3 in a row with a 35-27 win over Louisiana-Monroe in their last outing. Kaleb Barker leads Troy with 734 passing yards on 70.3% passing with 7 touchdowns and 2 interceptions while B.J. Smith is Troy’s leading rusher with 230 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns this season. Deondre Douglas leads Troy’s receiving corps with 201 yards and 19 receptions while Damion Willis has 4 touchdown receptions this season. As a team, Troy is averaging 394.5 yards of total offense and 34.5 points per contest through their first four games this season.
Coastal Carolina is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 conference matchups. Troy is 2-8 ATS in their last 10 home games and 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall while the under is 14-5-1 in their last 20 conference matchups.
I can definitely see Troy winning this game at home, but laying two touchdowns seems like a lot against a Coastal Carolina team that can move the ball well in their own right. Yes, Troy has an impressive win over Nebraska on their resume, but Nebraska hasn’t been great this season, and the Chanticleers are solid on the road. I’ll take a shot with the points as I think this is just a case of a heavily inflated line.
