In the Illinois State game, Colorado State QB KJ Carta-Samuels posted 142 yards with two TDs and a pick, while Izzy Matthews led the rush on 71 yards. Leading the receivers for the Rams was Olabisi Johnson with seven grabs for 107 yards and a TD.
Over on the San Jose State side, they’re 0-4 on the year. The losses the Spartans have accumulated came courtesy of UC Davis, Washington State, Oregon and Hawaii.
In the Rainbow Warriors game, Spartans QB Josh Love chucked 451 yards and three touchdowns in a triple-OT shootout loss 44-41. Malik Roberson put up 47 yards and a TD on 16 totes, while Josh Oliver posted eight grabs for 158 yards and a score.
The Rams are 1-6 ATS in their last seven on turf and 1-8 ATS in their last nine following an ATS loss. Colorado State is also 1-11 in their last 12 overall and 0-7 ATS in their last seven conference games.
Meanwhile, San Jose State is 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 overall and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five home games. The Spartans are 1-5 ATS versus a team with a losing record and the under is 6-1 in their last seven in October.
Colorado State does have some playmakers on their roster. Johnson and Preston Williams have put up some good stat lines over the course of the year, but when the team is playing from behind and falling apart in the fourth quarter their efforts are nullified.
San Jose State is in something of the same boat, as they’ve given up at least 31 points in every game so far. the Hawaii loss was a real heartbreaker, as the Spartans had numerous opportunities late but ultimately couldn’t keep up.
This one really could go either way, but if you like messing with the over/under this looks like a good spot to take the over. The consensus here seems to be with Colorado State, and I think I agree. I’m going Rams (unless the line inflates past -4 or so) in what should be a high-scoring and tight affair.
