The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will travel to the Alamodome to take on the UTSA Roadrunners this Saturday night in College Football action.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs dropped to 3-2 (1-1 C-USA) on the season after being defeated by the UAB Blazers, 28-7, this past Saturday. After upsetting the North Texas Mean Green on the road, the Bulldogs and their offensive couldn’t get anything going against the Blazers defense and couldn’t fight back after UAB took a 21-7 lead with 8:08 left in regulation. Louisiana Tech was outgained by UAB by a 365-256 margin and lost the turnover battle by a 3-1 margin. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was RB Kam McKnight who had 80 rushing yards and a TD on 15 carries. On the season, Louisiana Tech is averaging 28.2 ppg on 417.0 total yards per game (260.6 passing yds/g; 156.4 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Louisiana Tech has been led by QB J’Mar Smith who has completed 55.6% of his passes for 9 TD & 5 INT while averaging 251.2 passing yds/g. The leading receivers for the Bulldogs have been Adrian Hardy (5.6 rec/g; 94.6 yds/g; 4 TD), Teddy Veal (4.2 rec/g; 54.6 yds/g), and Rhashid Bonnette (3.8 rec/g; 54.4 yds/g; TD). UTSA vs. LA Tech - 10/13/18 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Ivan Pierre Aguirre-USA TODAY Sports

The UTSA Roadrunners won their 3rd straight game and improved to 3-3 (2-0 C-USA) on the season after defeating the Rice Owls, 20-3, this past Saturday. UTSA was outstanding on the defensive end against the Owls and had no trouble securing the victory after taking a 13-0 halftime lead. UTSA was outgained by a 222-178 margin however, won the turnover battle by a 4-0 margin. Leading the way for the Roadrunners was B.J. Daniels who had 61 rushing yards and a TD on 13 carries. On the season, UTSA is averaging 19.8 ppg on 250.5 total yards per game (148.2 passing yds/g; 102.3 rushing yds/g). Offensively, UTSA has been led by QB Cordale Grundy who has completed 52.5% of his passes for 5 TD & 2 INT while averaging 133.2 passing yds/g. The top receivers for the Roadrunners have been Greg Campbell Jr. (4.3 rec/g; 44.8 yds/g; TD), Kirk Johnson Je. (3.3 rec/g; 22.8 yds/g), Blaze Moorhead (1.8 rec/g; 21.2 yds/g; TD), and Tykee Ogle-Kellogg (1.7 rec/g; 20.3 yds/g; 2 TD). Leading the way for the UTSA backfield has been B.J. Daniels (11.5 att/g; 44.8 yds/g; 3 TD) and Jalen Rhodes (7.7 att/g; 31.5 yds/g; TD). Defensively, UTSA is allowing their opponents to average 28.7 ppg on 368.8 total yards per game (244.2 passing yds/g; 124.7 rushing yds/g).

The Bulldogs are 14-2 ATS in their last 16 games following a double-digit loss at home and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall. The Roadrunners are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games following a ATS win and 0-7-1 ATS in their last 8 home games.

Louisiana Tech had a trouble against a UAB defense that has played well this season however, I’m not overly concerned about the offense finding success against a UTSA defense that is no where near the level that they were last season. The Roadrunners have won three in a row, however, it’s been against weak opponents that are just 2-15 on the season. UTSA is going to have trouble securing many more wins on the season with an offense that ranks dead last in all of College Football in total offense and as I think Louisiana Tech will bounce back here after a tough home loss last week, I’m taking Louisiana Tech to cover.
