The Arkansas State Red Wolves and the Georgia State Panthers will meet up in college football action on Thursday from Centennial Bank Stadium.
Arkansas State enters this game at 3-3 on the season so far. The Wolves have taken out SEMO, Tulsa and UNLV this year while posting losses to Alabama, GA Southern and Appalachian State.
In the App State game, Arkansas State QB Justice Hansen put up 209 yards with three INTs, and Marcel Murray led the rush on 37 yards. Tops in receiving for the Red Wolves was Kirk Merritt, with 73 yards on nine grabs.
Over on the Georgia State side, they’re sitting at 2-4 this season. The Panthers’ two wins came against Kennesaw State and LA-Monroe, and otherwise they’ve lost to NC State, Memphis, Western Michigan and Troy.
In the Trojans game, Georgia State QB Dan Ellington managed 272 yards and a TD, and also led the rush with 59 yards on 19 carries. Penny Hart was the top Panthers receiver with 128 yards from six catches.
The Panthers are 10-1-1 ATS in their last 12 in October and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five overall. Georgia State is 1-4-1 ATS in their last six conference games and 0-4-1 ATS in their last five road games.
Meanwhile, the Wolves are 4-0 in their last four Thursday games and 7-1 ATS in their last eight in October. Arkansas State is 1-7 ATS in their last eight overall and 0-6 ATS in their last six home games.
Arkansas State is coming off a pretty disastrous showing against App State, where they lost 35-9. Of the Wolves’ three losses, that was really their only blowout—aside from Alabama, which is understandable.
As for Georgia State, they’ve been getting drilled in their losses for the most part, including falling 37-20 to Troy in their last outing.
I’m more confident with Arkansas State to cover here.
