The NC State Wolfpack will visit the Syracuse Orange on Saturday at Carrier Dome in ACC college football activity.
NC State enters this game with a 5-1 record overall. The Wolfpack’s lone blemish came courtesy of Clemson in their last game, but otherwise they've taken out James Madison, Georgia State, Marshall, Virginia and Boston College.
In the Clemson blowout, NC State QB Ryan Finley put up 156 yards with two picks, and Reggie Gallaspy logged 59 yards and a TD on the ground. The Wolfpack’s receivers were led by CJ Riley, who had three grabs for 66 yards.
Over on the Syracuse side, they’re sitting at 5-2 this year. The Orange’s losses came to Clemson and Pittsburgh, while they’ve taken out Western Michigan, Wagner, Florida State, UConn and North Carolina.
In the UNC game, Syracuse QB Tommy Devito put up 181 yards with three TDs and a pick, and Moe Neal led the rush on 66 yards from eight totes. Jamal Custis led the Orange receivers with his seven grabs for 162 yards and a TD.
NC State is 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 on turf and 5-2 ATS in their last seven following an ATS loss. The Pack are also 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 road games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven in October.
Meanwhile, the Orange are 6-0-1 ATS in the last seven following a straight-up win and 8-3 ATS versus a team with a winning record. Syracuse is 2-5 ATS in their last seven conference games and 1-4 ATS in their last five following an ATS loss.
NC State got quite the wakeup call in the Clemson game, as they were never really in it at all. At the start of the fourth quarter, the Wolfpack were down 31-0 and added just one late cosmetic touchdown to prevent the shutout.
As for Syracuse, they’ve been playing well on the whole this season and though they’ve had a couple of losses against quality teams in their last few games (as well as a UNC scare) they’ve shown they can hang with anyone.
I like the Orange to cover here in what should be a fun game.
