The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns and the Georgia State Panthers will be meeting up Saturday in college football action from Cajun Field.
Georgia State comes in here at 2-7 on the season so far. The Panthers’ wins have come against Kennesaw State and LA-Monroe, and otherwise they’ve dropped to NC State, Memphis, Western MI, Troy, Arkansas State, Coastal Carolina and Texas State.
In the Texas State game, Georgia State QB Aaron Winchester put up 112 yards and a TD, and Dan Ellington led the rush on 89 yards. Roger Carter led the receivers for the Panthers with four grabs for 47 yards.
Over on the Louisiana side, they’re 4-5 this season. The Cajuns have taken out Grambling State, Texas State, NM State and Arkansas State but fallen to MS State, Coastal Carolina, Alabama, App State and Troy.
In the Trojans game, Louisiana QB Andre Nunez put up 126 yards and two picks while Trey Ragas managed 106 yards and two scores. Ja’Marcus Bradley led the Louisiana receivers with four grabs for 67 yards.
Georgia State is 1-3-1 ATS in their last five on turf and 1-4 ATS in their last five following an ASS loss. The Panthers are 0-3-1 ATS in their last four conference games and 0-5 ATS versus a team with a losing record.
Meanwhile, Louisiana is 5-1 ATS in their last six overall and 6-2 ATS in their last eight following a straight-up loss. The Cajuns are also 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games and 5-2 ATS versus a team with a losing record.
Georgia State’s record is pretty abysmal this year, but for the most part they’re still hanging around in games and not getting completely destroyed on a regular basis.
As for Louisiana, they’re a pretty tough squad to figure out, as they’ll look great one week and light up the scoreboard, then come back and barely tread water in their next outing.
This is something of a tough pick. I was going to go with the Cajuns to manage a cover here but the line is a little thick for my tastes. I'm taking Georgia State to get in there.
