The Marshall Thundering Herd and the FIU Panthers will be meeting up on the college football field Saturday from FIU Stadium.
Marshall comes into this one at 7-3 on the season. The Herd have fallen to NC State, Middle Tennessee and Southern Miss this year but otherwise taken out Miami OH, EKU, WKU, Old Dominion, Florida Atlantic, Charlotte and UTSA.
In the UTSA game, Marshall QB Isaiah Green put up 387 yards and two scores, and Brenden Knox logged 56 yards on the ground. Tyre Brady was the leading Herd receiver on 162 yards and a TD.
Over on the FIU side, they’re 8-3 this season. The Panthers’ losses have come to Indiana, Miami FL and FL Atlantic, but they’ve beaten ODU, UMass, AR-Pine Bluff, Middle Tennessee, Rice, WKU, UTSA and Charlotte.
In the 49ers game, FIU quarterback James Morgan put up 268 yards and two scores, with Napoleon Maxwell logging 102 yards and two scores. Austin Maloney led the FIU receivers on 107 yards from three catches.
The Herd are 6-2 ATS in their last eight road games and 5-11 ATS in their last 16 in November. Marshall is 1-5 ATS in their last six following a straight-up win and the over is 4-1 in their last five road games.
Meanwhile, the Panthers are 6-1 ATS versus a team with a winning record and 6-2 ATS in their last eight conference games. FIU is 8-3 ATS in their last 11 overall and 5-2 ATS in their last seven following a straight-up win.
Aside from a few slips here and there, Marshall has looked pretty strong all season. The Herd are also scoring pretty well this year as well and haven’t been south of 20 points in any game this year.
FIU has looked pretty darn good this season as well, and they’ve scored 87 points across their last two outings.
I expect this one to be a great game. I’m going to take Marshall to eke out a win/cover, but realistically staying away and enjoying watching.
