The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons meet Saturday in college football action from BB&T Field. This Game Has Been Postponed

As for Wake Forest, they haven’t recorded a win yet at 0-2. The Demon Deacons dropped against Clemson 37-13, then fell in a tough one to NC State 45-42. Notre Dame sputtered out of the gate (relatively speaking) versus a good Duke team in Week 1, and were up just 17-13 heading into the fourth quarter before a 10-0 run helped the team close out with a win. Irish quarterback Ian Book posted 263 yards with a touchdown and an interception in that one, and Kyren Williams had 19 carries for 112 yards and two scores.
The Fighting Irish were off to the races in Week 2 versus USF, and relied on a strong running game to push up the score. Notre Dame scored six rushing touchdowns in that game, including Book’s three. C’Bo Flemister led a great rush with 127 yards and a score on 13 carries in the Irish’s 52-0 win.
Over on the Demon Deacons’ side, they had a tall order opening up versus Clemson this year. Wake Forest fell behind 27-0 at halftime and didn’t get anywhere close after that. Wake Forest QB Sam Hartman finished with 182 yards, and Christian Beal-Smith led the rush on just 29 yards from 11 carries.
Wake Forest looked better in Week 2 versus NC State, but still couldn’t find a win. Quarterback Sam Hartman had 236 yards and a touchdown, while Jaquarii Roberson had seven catches for 75 yards and a score. Kenneth Walker led the offense on the ground in that one, posting 131 yards and three touchdowns.
Notre Dame is 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games as a favorite. The Fighting Irish are 4-1 ATS in their last five games in September and 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 after a straight-up win.
Meanwhile, the Deacons are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games in September and 4-1 ATS in their last five games on turf. Wake Forest is 4-1 ATS in their last five home games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Pick: I think I’m sticking with Notre Dame here. The Irish have some pretty tough ACC teams ahead, but should be able to handle Wake Forest pretty easily. Notre Dame isn’t looking past this game on the schedule however, as the Deacons have a pretty strong running game when they can get it going. That said, Notre Dame has more than enough defense to counter that strength and should be able to dispatch Wake without too much trouble.
