The North Carolina Tar Heels and the Boston College Eagles meet in ACC college football action from Alumni Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The North Carolina Tar Heels come into this game rested having not taken the field since their 31-6 win over Syracuse in opening week. Sam Howell’s thrown 295 yards, a touchdown and two picks on 73.5% passing while Michael Carter leads UNC with 78 rushing yards and Javonte Williams has 57 rushing yards with 3 rushing touchdowns. Dyami Brown has a team-high 94 yards on 6 catches while the aforementioned Carter also has 6 receptions out of the backfield for UNC this year. Defensively, Chazz Surratt leads the Tar Heels with 9 total tackles with a pair of sacks while Tomari Fox also has a pair of sacks as well this season.
The Boston College Eagles will look to add to their 2-0 start following a narrow 24-21 win over Texas State to climb to 2-0 last time out. Phil Jurkovec has thrown for 510 yards, 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on 70.5% passing while David Bailey has rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown and the aforementioned Jurkovec has rushed for a pair of touchdowns as well. Zay Flowers leads BC’s receiving group with 182 receiving yards and a touchdown while Hunter Long has 174 receiving yards this season. Defensively, Isaiah McDuffie has a team-high 18 total tackles with 12 solo tackles along with a pair of sacks this season.
North Carolina is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games as a favorite while the over is 9-2 in their last 11 road games. Boston College is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a win and 14-5-1 ATS in their last 20 games as an underdog while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 conference games. North Carolina is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
Points with a home dog like BC are tempting as the Eagles have an opportunity to make some noise in the ACC standings this season. The problem is that Boston College is running into a North Carolina team that looks as good as we’ve seen them in quite some time, and I’m not really loving what I saw from Boston College, scraping by Texas State. North Carolina’s loaded, especially at QB with Sam Howell leading the charge, and I think we see another strong outing from the Tar Heels here. I can see North Carolina winning this one by two scores, so I’ll lay the points with UNC in this one.
