The Georgia Southern Eagles and the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks meet in Sun Belt conference college football action from JPS Field at Malone Stadium on Saturday.
The Georgia Southern Eagles will look to bounce back after a 20-18 loss to Louisiana-Lafayette last time out. Shai Wers has thrown for 308 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception on 56.3% passing while also leading the Eagles in rushing with 187 rushing yards and a touchdown. J.D. King also has 174 rushing yards with a pair of rushing TDs while Wesley Kennedy III leads the Eagles with 105 receiving yards this season. Defensively, Java’n Singletary leads Georgia Southern with 15 total tackles while Derrick Canteen has 12 total tackles with Singletary and Canteen each have a team-high 7 solo tackles. Raymond Johnson III has a pair of sacks as well for the Eagles this season.
The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks will look to rebound after a dismal 0-3 start to the year after a 31-6 loss to UTEP last time out. Colby Suits has thrown for 709 yards, 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on 66.7% passing while Josh Johnson has rushed for a team-high 108 yards this season. Jahquan Bloomfield has a team-high 146 receiving yards on 6 catches while Josh Pederson has a team-high 13 catches for 121 yards and Jevin Grett is the 3rd 100+ yard receiver for ULM this season with 107 receiving yards this season. Traveion Webster leads ULM with 28 total tackles including a team-high 18 assisted tackles while Austin Hawley has 25 total tackles with 15 solo tackles and Jabari Johnson has 21 total tackles this season.
Georgia Southern is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games as a road favorite while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. Louisiana-Monroe is 8-21 ATS in their last 29 games overall and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 conference games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games as an underdog.
I knew ULM were going to have their issues this year, but I didn’t think it was going to get this bad, to the point where ULM would get blown out at home by 25 points against a UTEP team that’s won more games this year than the past three years combined. Georgia Southern is by no means a world-beater, and the option offense has a tendency to chew up a lot of clock which is a risk when trying to cover a big number, but from what we’ve seen from ULM, this should be a comfortable win by the Eagles. I’ll lay the points with Georgia Southern here.
