The East Carolina Pirates and the Georgia State Panthers meet in college football action from Center Parc Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The East Carolina Panthers come into this one looking to rebound from a 51-28 loss to UCF in their season opener. Holton Ahlers threw for 215 yards, 3 touchdowns and an interception on 14 of 29 passing while five different Pirates combined to rush for 244 yards, led by Keaton Mitchell who had 66 rushing yards and Darius Pinnix Jr. has a rushing score as well in the loss. Audie Omotosho had 56 yards on a team-high 3 catches while C.J. Johnson had 52 receiving yards and a touchdown. Pinnix Jr. had a receiving score was well and Tyler Snead recorded a touchdown through the air himself. Defensively, Shawn Dorseau and Xavier Smith each had a team-high 8 tackles for ECU in the losing effort.
The Georgia State Panthers have had an extra week to rest up after a 34-31 loss in overtime to Louisiana-Lafayette in their opener. Cornelius Brown threw for 196 yards, a touchdown and an interception on 22 of 39 passing while Destin Coates rushes for a team-high 150 yards and a touchdown on 34 carries. Brown also logged 64 rushing yards with a touchdown and Marcus Carroll had a rushing score as well. East Carolina is 15-31-1 ATS in their last 47 games overall and 6-16 ATS in their last 22 road games while the over is 6-0 in their last 6 games as an underdog. Georgia State is 1-7-1 ATS in their last 9 games against a team with a losing record and 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a loss.
This line’s sitting near a pick ‘em, and to be honest I’m not sure why. East Carolina has been one of the worst programs year in and year out, while Georgia State jas clearly built up the team right after losing key pieces last year as the Panthers gave a really good Ragin’ Cajuns group all they could handle in that game and I just think if they could give if to Louisiana the way they did, Georgia State could and should take it to ECU here. I’ll lay the point with Georgia State in this one.
