The Citadel just hasn’t looked good this season. The Bulldogs had a couple of rough games to start out, losing to South Florida and Clemson by a combined score of 76-6. The Eastern Kentucky game went a little better, but the Citadel still put up some really tepid numbers overall.
In the loss to the Colonels, Citadel quarterback Brandon Rainey had just 36 yards on 2-of-9 passing for a touchdown and an interception. Emeka Nwanze was the top rusher for the Bulldogs with 114 yards on 22 carries. Raleigh Webb managed the receiving touchdown with a 28-yard catch.
As for the Black Knights, they’ve played very well in their wins and outscored their opponents 134-30 in three games combined. Army lost by 14 to a good Cincinnati team in their third game however, and were just 3-for-15 on third and fourth down. Outside of that it was a fairly balanced game that just got away from the Knights.
Army bounced back against ACU last weekend, and had a killer game on the ground. Leading the way for the Black Knights was Jemel Jones’ 138 yards and two touchdowns off 14 carries. Tyrell Robinson added seven carries for 126 yards, and Anthony Adkins had 70 yards and two scores off 10 carries.

PICK: I still have to go Army here, but the spread on this game is pretty wacky. The Black Knights’ running game has been excellent so far, and there haven’t been too many situations where they need to throw. The constant onslaught of rushing will continue in this one, and the Citadel aren’t equipped to stop it. As long as the line on this one doesn’t get much thicker during the week, I’m pretty comfortable on Army’s ability to cover. That said, these 30-plus point spreads are tricky, so it might be best to just stay away from this one.
