The Oklahoma Sooners and the TCU Horned Frogs meet Saturday in Big 12 college football action from Amon G. Carter Stadium.
Oklahoma enters this one at 2-2 so far. The Sooners have a pair of losses to Kansas State and Iowa State sandwiched between wins over Missouri State and Texas (4OT). As for TCU, they’re 1-2 in 2020. The Horned Frogs beat Texas back on October 3 but otherwise have lost to Iowa State and Kansas State. Check back all season long for free college football picks at Sports Chat Place.
Oklahoma has been competitive this season, and both their losses have been with in one score. The Sooners stormed out of the gate with a 48-0 win over Missouri State, but then fell to Kansas State 38-35 and Iowa State 37-30. Oklahoma managed a huge win in a four-overtime affair versus Texas, taking the game 53-45 in epic fashion.
In the win over the Longhorns, Oklahoma QB Spencer Rattler posted 209 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. TJ Pledger led the rushing attack with 131 yards and two touchdowns, while Austin Stogner finished with six catches for 56 yards and a touchdown.
Over on the TCU side, they’ve been quite competitive so far as well, falling 37-34 to Iowa State in the opener then eking out a 33-31 win over Texas. The Horned Frogs offense stalled out in the Kansas State game on October 10 however, as TCU fell 21-14.
In the loss to Kansas State, Frogs quarterback Max Duggan posted 154 yards on 19-of-31 passing, while Darlin Barlow had eight carries for 56 yards and a TD. (Duggan also carried 15 times for 43 yards and a score.) Blair Conwright was the top receiver for the Horned Frogs in that one with six catches for 60 yards.
The Sooners are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games as a favorite and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 overall. Oklahoma is 5-15-1 ATS in the last 21 games as a road favorite and 2-7 ATS in their last nine conference games.
Meanwhile, the Frogs are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games as a home underdog and 11-25 ATS in their last 36 games on grass. TCU is 8-23 ATS in their last 31 home games and 2-7 ATS in the last nine games in October.
PICK: I’m going Oklahoma in this one. The Sooners offense has been pretty reliable so far, and they’ve hit 30 points or more in every game. Defensively it’s been another story, as Oklahoma has given up a combined 120 points over their last three outings. There will be some opportunities for TCU to put up points here, but I don’t think they’ll be able to keep up with the Sooners on the scoreboard for the entire game.
