The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and the UTSA Roadrunners meet in C-USA Week 8 college football action from the Alamodome on Saturday night.
The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will be out to rebound after a 35-17 loss to Marshall in their last game to drop to 3-2 on the year. Luke Anthony has thrown for 919 yards, 11 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on 62.5% passing while Justin Henderson leads LA Tech in rushing with 245 rushing yards and a pair of rushing TDs and Israel Tucker has 212 rushing yards and a pair of scores as well. Griffin Hebert is right behind with 168 receiving yards and Wayne Toussaint has 130 receiving yards with both Hebert and Toussaint having a pair of receiving TDs and Cee Jay Powell has 107 receiving yards as well for LA Tech. Defensively, Tyler Grubbs leads the Bulldogs with 51 total tackles while Trey Baldwin has 39 total tackles including 20 solo tackles. Milton Williams has a team-high 3 sacks and Maki Carabin has a pair of interceptions.
The UTSA Roadrunners will be out to snap a three-game losing skid after regressing to 3-3 with a 28-16 loss to Army last time out. Frank Harris leads UTSA with 597 passing yards, 4 touchdowns and two interceptions while Lowell Narcisse has 417 passing yards with 3 scores and Josh Adkins has tossed for 233 yards and a touchdown in a mucked up QB situation for UTSA. Sincere McCormick has 702 rushing yards and 4 scores while the aforementioned Harris has 187 rushing yards and 5 TDs for the Roadrunners. Zakhari Franklin leads UTSA in receiving with 27 grabs for 346 yards and 4 TDs while Joshua Cephus has a team-high 31 catches for 309 yards and 3 TDs. Brennon Dingle has 19 grabs for 253 yards for UTSA as well this season.
Louisiana Tech is 13-6 ATS in their last 19 road games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a loss while the under is 10-2 in their last 12 games following an ATS loss. UTSA is 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 home games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 conference games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall.
You could make a case for UTSA getting points at home, but even with an 0-3 ATS record and a 2-1 mark SU, the fact is that the Roadrunners haven’t been good covering the number against teams like Middle Tennessee and Stephen F. Austin. I hate to break it to you UTSA, but Louisiana Tech is a better team than either of those squads and I’m thinking we may see a result similar to what we saw against Army. I think Louisiana Tech adds onto UTSA’s misery with a road win and cover in this one.
