Troy has come out of the gate in 2020 strong, and they’ve showcased some nice offensive capabilities over the first six games. The Trojans have had a couple of tough losses though: one came 48-7 against BYU and the other 36-34 versus Georgia State. Troy notched a nice win over Arkansas State last Saturday though, taking it 38-10.
In the victory over the Red Wolves, Troy quarterback Jacob Free put up 419 yards and two touchdowns on 33-of-45 passing, and Kimani Vidal led the rush with 58 yards and a TD. Kaylon Geiger had a nice day receiving on 126 yards from eight catches.
Over on the Georgia Southern side, they should be feeling pretty good coming out of the long week. The Eagles were a little shaky in their first couple of games with a close win over Campbell and a 20-18 loss to Louisiana. Since then the Eagles have put up at least 24 points in three of four games.
In Georgia Southern’s latest matchup last Thursday, they took a 24-17 win over South Alabama. Eagles quarterback Shai Werts posted 95 yards and an interception passing, and also led the rush with 91 yards on 14 carries. Tops in receiving was Malik Murray with his 38-yard catch.
Troy is 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games as a road favorite and 14-6 ATS in the last 20 road games. The Trojans are 1-5 ATS in their last six games after an ATS win and 1-5 ATS versus a team with a winning record.
Meanwhile, Georgia Southern is 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games and 0-5 ATS in the last five games after an ATS win. The under is 5-0 in the Eagles’ last five home games and the under is 7-1 in their last eight overall.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Troy here. Georgia Southern has put up some pretty well-balanced performances this year, but over the last couple of games they haven’t been overwhelming on the scoreboard. The Trojans have hit 31 points or more in each of their last four games, and should be able to bag another pretty good number here. This one should be a relatively high-scoring game and a fun one to watch.
