The Charlotte 49ers visit the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders when they meet in C-USA college football action from Johnny “Red” Floyd Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Charlotte 49ers will be out to rebound from a 53-19 loss to Duke in their last game. Chris Reynolds has thrown for 1,100 yards, 6 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on 58.2% passing while Tre Harbison III leads the 49ers with 257 rushing yards and 4 TDs and Aaron McAllister isn’t far behind with 254 rushing yards and 3 scores. Victor Tucker leads the 49ers with 22 grabs for 289 yards and 2 scores while Micaleous Elder has 18 catches for 245 yards. Cameron Dollar, Taylor Thompson and Tyler Ringwood all have 100+ receiving yards for Charlotte this season. Defensively, Ben DeLuca leads Charlotte with 41 total tackles including 27 solo tackles while Tyler Murray has 40 total tackles and a pair of interceptions this season.
The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders will look to build off of a 40-34 win over Rice in their last game to climb to 2-5 this season. Asher O’Hara has thrown for 1,509 yards, 11 touchdowns and 8 interceptions on 65.2% passing while also leading Middle Tennessee in rushing with 476 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns. Chaton Mobley has 299 rushing yards with 3 TDs and Jayy McDonald has 144 rushing yards as well this season. Jarrin Pierce leads Middle Tennessee in receiving with 46 catches for 451 yards and 2 TDs while Yusuf Ali has 24 catches for 341 yards and CJ Windham has 23 catches for 237 yards and a team-high 3 touchdowns. DJ England-Chisholm also has 135 receiving yards for the Blue Raiders this season. Defensively, Gregory Grate Jr. has a team-high 61 total tackles including 34 solo tackles and 3 interceptions while Cody Smith has a team-high 3 sacks and DQ Thomas, Decorian Patterson and Jordan Ferguson all have 2.5 sacks.
Charlotte is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games as a favorite. Middle Tennessee is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 7-1 in their last 8 conference games.
There are much better options on Saturday’s card to say the least, but with that said, the 49ers were routed by Duke, but all in all, Charlotte hasn’t played terribly and they’ve played well against the tougher teams on their schedule. Middle Tennessee has wins over FIU and Rice, but big whoop. Those are two of the worst teams in C-USA this season and the 49ers have done most of their damage ATS on the road this season as it is, going 3-1 ATS. I’ll lay the points with Charlotte if forced to pick this game.
