The Notre Dame Fighting Irish visit the Boston College Eagles as they meet Saturday in Chestnut Hill in college football action at BC Alumni Stadium.
Notre Dame enters this game at 7-0 on the season. The Irish are coming off a huge win over Clemson this past weekend, 47-40 in overtime. As for Boston College, they’re 5-3 this year. The Eagles fell 34-28 to Clemson themselves, but beat Syracuse by three this past weekend. Check back all season long for free college football picks at Sports Chat Place.
Notre Dame is rolling right along this season, and they’ve taken care of every challenge that’s come their way. The Fighting Irish had a close game versus Louisville 12-7, but outside of that they’ve put up at least 27 points in every other outing. The 47-40 win over Clemson last weekend was the latest feather in the Irish cap this year.
In the win over the Tigers, Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book posted 310 yards with a touchdown, and Javon McKinley had 102 yards on five receptions. Karen Williams led the rush with 140 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries.
Over on the Boston College side, they’re doing pretty well with a tough schedule this year. The Eagles’ only bad loss came 40-14 to Virginia Tech, and otherwise they’ve been close at 26-22 in a loss to UNC and 34-28 in a loss to Clemson. Boston College had some trouble putting away Syracuse last weekend but ultimately got the job done 16-13.
In the win over Syracuse, Boston College quarterback Phil Jurkovec put up 208 yards with a TD, and Say Flowers had six catches for 64 yards and a score. David Bailey managed 25 carries for 125 yards to lead the Eagles rushing attack.
The Irish are 5-0 ATS in their last five games in November and 4-0 ATS versus a team with a winning record. Notre Dame is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 after a straight-up win and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 after an ATS win.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Notre Dame in this one. The Irish offense has been firing on all cylinders over their last three games, with a combined 123 points scored during that span. Boston College has a capable offense as well, but they’ve also scored 16 points or fewer in two of the last four games. I think the Eagles will put a few points on the board here and hang around for a while but ultimately I like Notre Dame to pull away.
