The South Carolina Gamecocks visit the Ole Miss Rebels as they meet Saturday in SEC college football action from Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
South Carolina enters this one at 2-4 so far. The Gamecocks have lost consecutive games to LSU and Texas A&M. As for Mississippi, they’re sitting at 2-4 so far. After losing three straight, the Rebels got a win over Vanderbilt in their last game. Check back all season long for free college football picks at Sports Chat Place.
South Carolina opened up with a couple of losses this year, 31-27 to Tennessee and 38-24 to Florida. After wins over Vanderbilt 41-7 and Auburn 30-22, the Gamecocks have since fallen to LSU 52-24 and Texas A&M 48-3.
In the loss to the Aggies, South Carolina quarterback Collin Hill managed 66 yards and two interceptions on 8-of-21 passing. Kevin Harris led the rush with 39 yards on 13 carries, and She Smith had seven receptions for 64 yards.
Over on the Ole Miss side, it’s been a pretty choppy season so far. The Rebels have faced some tough opponents, and overall they’ve been putting up some solid points totals (35 or more in four of six games), but they’re also giving up a lot on defense. Ole Miss had a nice effort overall in a 54-21 win versus Vanderbilt in their last game, though.
In the win over the Commodores, Rebels quarterback Matt Corral put up 412 yards and six touchdowns, while Jerrion Ealy had 15 carries for 95 yards. Tops in receiving was Elijah Moore with a ridiculous 238 yards and three touchdowns on 14 catches.
The Gamecocks are 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games on grass and 1-4 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss. South Carolina is 0-4 ATS in their last four games in November and the under is 5-0 in their last five games in November.
Meanwhile, the Rebels are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 after a straight-up win and 1-4 ATS in their last five after a bye week. The under is 6-1 in Ole Miss’ last seven games in November and 6-2 in their last eight after a bye week.
PICK: I’m going to lean Rebels here. This is a pretty interesting matchup, as South Carolina can put up the points and I expect this one to be a high-flying affair. That said, Ole Miss certainly has the talent on offense to be able to keep pace throughout this game, and I think this one will be decided by a few late fourth-quarter plays. It’s pretty tight on paper, but I like Mississippi to eke out a cover in what should be a really fun matchup.
