This game has been canceled. The North Texas Mean Green and the UAB Blazers meet in C-USA college football action from Legion Field on Saturday afternoon.
The North Texas Mean Green come into this one rested after a COVID outbreak within the team led to a postponement against Louisiana Tech. The Mean Green sit at 2-3 this season, led by Austin Aune who has thrown for 1,233 yards, 8 touchdowns and 4 interceptions while Jason Bean has 427 rushing yards, 6 touchdowns and an interception on 61.4% passing while also owning 231 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns this season. DeAndre Torrey leads North Texas with 444 rushing yards and 4 scores as well while Oscar Adaway III and Tre Siggers each have 200+ rushing yards as well this season. Jaelon Darden leads North Texas’ receiving group with 46 grabs for 689 yards and 10 TDs while Deonte Simpson has 328 receiving yards with 3 TDs. Greg White, Austin Ogunmakin and Roderic Burns each have 100+ receiving yards this season. Defensively, KD Davis leads the Mean Green with 34 total tackles while Makyle Sanders has a team-high with 19 solo tackles. Davis and Larry Nixon III each have a pair of sacks as well this season for UNT.
The UAB Blazers will look to hold their spot atop the C-USA West division, sitting at 4-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play after a pair of back-to-back losses, including a 37-34 loss to Louisiana Tech last time out. Bryson Lucero has thrown for 969 yards, 7 touchdowns and 8 picks on 54.1% passing while Spencer Brown leads UAB in rushing with 740 rushing yards and 10 TDs and DeWayne McBride has 396 rushing yards and 4 scores. Jermaine Brown Jr. also has 203 rushing yards while Austin Watkins Jr. has a team-high 34 grabs for 468 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns and Myron Mitchell has 360 receiving yards as well. Hayden Pittman and Gerrit Prince also have 100+ receiving yards apiece for UAB as well this season. On defense, Kristopher Moll leads UAB with 47 total tackles including 34 solo tackles while four different Blazers have a pair of sacks for UAB this season.
North Texas is 6-20 ATS in their last 26 games overall, 5-16 ATS in their last 21 conference games and 2-9 ATS in their last 11 road games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a win. UAB is 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 home games and 21-9-1 ATS in their last 31 conference games while the over is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games following a loss. North Texas is 0-4 ATS in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
The Mean Green come in rested, but the extra week off won’t help the fact that North Texas’ defense is still a sieve this season. UAB’s had issues as well this season, but this is still a really good Blazers team and I think this is a get right spot for UAB against a North Texas team that just can’t keep points off of the board. I’ll lay the points with the Blazers in this one.
