The Utah Utes host USC Trojans as they meet in Pac-12 conference Week 12 college football action from Rice Eccles Stadium on Saturday night.

The USC Trojans will try to build on their 2-0 start after a 34-30 win over Arizona last time out. Kedon Slovis has thrown for 706 yards, 3 touchdowns and an interception on 71.4% passing while MArkese Stepp leads USC with 135 rushing yards and a pair of TDs and Stephen Carr also has 125 rushing yards and a pair of scores for the Trojans. Amon-Ra St. Brown leads USC with 14 catches for 213 yards while Drake London has 193 receiving yards and a TD and Tyler Vaughns has 123 receiving yards this season. On defense, Marlon Tuipulotu leads the Trojans with 16 total tackles including 11 solo tackles while Talanoa Hufanga has 14 total tackles including 11 solo tackles as well. Drake Jackson has a pair of sacks for USC and Hufanga has an interception for the Trojans.

The Utah Utes will hope to finally be able to take the field after having their first two games of the season cancelled due to COVID outbreaks within the team. Drew Lisk is expected to be the starter under center for the Utes after throwing just nine pass attempts last season while Devin Brumfield is expected to shoulder more of a workload in the Utah backfield after logging 263 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns last year after Zack Moss and Tyler Huntley finished up with the program. Brant Kuithe and Bryan Thompson should be a formidable 1-2 punch in Utah’s receiving group to give Lisk some targets, but there is a lot of work to do. On the defensive side, Devin Lloyd is back after leading the Utes with 91 tackles last season and Utah will need his best as this is a Utah team with a ton of turnover from last year’s squad. The upside is there, but it’ll be up to head coach Kyle Whittingham to bring it out.

USC is 15-35-2 ATS in their last 52 road games and 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games following a win. Utah is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games and 8-1 ATS in their last 9 conference games while the under is 8-3-1 in their last 12 games overall. USC is 0-4 ATS in the last 4 meetings between these two teams at Utah.

I can understand why the points with Utah are tempting as it just looks like USC was being given way too much love early on this season. However, even on the road, this line seems reasonable with a USC team that’s still 2-0 with game experience under its belt, which is more than we can say for Utah at this point. The Utes have a lot of rebuilding to do at quarterback and running back, and I think this is a winnable spot for USC to take by a touchdown at least. I’ll lay the points with USC on the road here.
