The UNLV Rebels and the Colorado State Rams meet Saturday in college football action from Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium.
UNLV enters this one at 0-4 on the year. The Rebels have lost to San Diego State, Nevada, Fresno State and San Jose State in succession. As for the Rams, they’re 1-2 this year. Colorado has a win over Wyoming alongside losses to Fresno State and Boise State. Check back all season long for free college football picks at Sports Chat Place.
It’s been a forgettable season so far for UNLV. The Rebels haven’t really been close in any of their four losses, falling to San Diego State 34-6, Nevada 37-19 and Fresno State 40-27. The trend continued this past weekend when UNLV fell to San Jose State 34-17.
In the loss to the Spartans, UNLV quarterback Justin Rogers posted 162 yards with one touchdown, and Charles Williams had 55 yards rushing with a TD on 19 carries. Kyle Williams added nine catches for 110 yards and a touchdown in that one as well.
Over on the Colorado State side, it’s been pretty choppy so far. The Rams opened up this year with a 38-17 loss to Fresno State, but then managed an encouraging 34-24 win over Wyoming in the next game. Colorado State couldn’t keep up with Boise State in their last outing however, eventually losing that one 52-21.
In the loss to the Broncos, Colorado State quarterback Patrick O’Brien posted 140 yards and an interception on 9-of-20 passing. A’Jon Vivens led the rush with 76 yards and a score off 12 carries, and Dante Wright had five catches for 109 yards to top the receivers.
The Rebels are 12-5-1 ATS in their last 18 after an ATS loss and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six after a straight-up loss. UNLV is 0-3-1 ATS in their last four overall and 0-3-1 ATS in their last four conference games.
Meanwhile, the Rams are 4-1 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 6-2 ATS in their last eight home games. Colorado State is 5-2 ATS in their last seven games in November and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 after a straight-up win.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Colorado State here, though this should be a pretty decent matchup. Through their first three games, the Rams have posted 72 points and allowed 114 to some good teams. In four games, UNLV has been outscored 145-69 in slightly more futile fashion. I like this one to stay pretty close early before the Rams pull away in the second half and manage a cover.
