The South Carolina Gamecocks host the Missouri Tigers when they meet Saturday in Week 12 SEC college football action from Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia.

Missouri comes into this game at 2-3 so far. The Tigers had consecutive wins going versus LSU and Kentucky but fell to Florida in their last outing. As for South Carolina, they’re 2-5 this season. The Gamecocks are on a three-game losing streak right now, falling to LSU, Texas A&M and Mississippi in that time. Check back all season long for free college football picks at Sports Chat Place.

Missouri has had a tough schedule this year so far, and their three losses have come against difficult teams in Alabama (38-19), Tennessee (35-12) and Florida (41-17). The good news is that the Tigers managed some solid wins over LSU 45-41 and Kentucky 20-10, but had a potential winning streak broken with the Gators loss on Halloween.

In the loss to Florida, Missouri quarterback Connor Bazelak posted 208 yards on 26-of-40 passing, and Larry Rountree rushed 14 times for 36 yards and a touchdown. Keke Chism led the receivers there with five catches for 68 yards.

Over on the South Carolina side, it’s been a similarly choppy season featuring some difficult oppoenents. The Gamecocks started out 2-2 with losses to Tennessee and Florida then wins over Vanderbilt and Auburn. Since then it’s been rough, as South Carolina has fallen to LSU 52-24, Texas A&M 48-3 and Mississippi 59-42.

In the loss to the Rebels, South Carolina quarterback Collin Hill put up 230 yards with a TD and an INT, and Shi Smith led the receivers on 10 catches for 117 yards and a TD. Kevin Harris did most of the work rushing, with a whopping 243 yards and five scores off 25 carries.

The Tigers are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games overall and 2-6 ATS versus a team with a losing record. Missouri is 7-21 ATS in their last 28 road games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss.

Meanwhile, South Carolina is 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine games on grass and 1-3-1 ATS in the last five home games. The Gamecocks are 0-4 ATS in their last four after an ATS loss and 0-5 ATS in their last five in November.

PICK: I’m going to stick with South Carolina here, but I’m probably staying away from this one. The Gamecocks can put up nice points totals when their offense is clicking, and they’ve managed 24 or more in six of seven games so far. South Carolina has been surrendering points by the truckload lately though: 159 across their last three games combined. I don’t think Missouri has the gas on offense to keep up that pace though, so I like the Gamecocks better on a cover.
