The UNLV Rebels host the Wyoming Cowboys when they meet Friday in Mountain West Conference college football action from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Wyoming comes into this one at 1-2 so far. The Cowboys have a win over Hawaii sandwiched between losses to Nevada and Colorado State. As for UNLV, they’re 0-4 this season. The Rebels have lost to San Diego State, Nevada, Fresno State and San Jose State in succession. Check back all season long for free college football picks at Sports Chat Place.

Wyoming’s 1-2 record through three games isn’t all that pretty, but as a consolation the team has been scoring well. The Cowboys fell 37-34 to Nevada in OT during the opener, then beat Hawaii 31-7. Wyoming’s last game was back on November 5, a 34-24 loss to Colorado State.

In the loss to Colorado State, Wyoming quarterback Levi Williams put up 321 yards with one interception on 19-of 31 passing. Xazavian Valladay led the rush with 147 yards and a TD on 28 carries, and Ayden Eberhardt had seven receptions for 132 yards total.

Over on the UNLV side, there’s not much success to point to either. The Rebels lost to San Diego State 34-6 in the first game, then 37-19 to Nevada and 40-27 to Fresno State. In UNLV’s last outing November 14, they fell again; this time to San Jose State 34-17.

In the loss to the Spartans, UNLV quarterback Justin Rogers posted 162 yards and a touchdown, while Charles Williams had 55 yards with a TD on 19 carries. Kyle Williams added 110 yards and a score off nine receptions to lead the team there.

The Cowboys are 4-0 ATS in their last four games after an ATS loss and 4-0 ATS in their last four Friday games. Wyoming is 6-2 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 1-4 ATS in their last five road games.

Meanwhile, the Rebels are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 on grass and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six after a straight-up loss. UNLV is 0-3-1 ATS in their last four overall and 0-3-1 ATS in their last four conference games.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Wyoming here, but there’s not a lot to like about this matchup. The good news about the Cowboys is that they’ve scored pretty consistently in their three games: at least 24 in each and a total of 89 across the trio. Conversely, UNLV has allowed at least 34 points in every game and only scored more than 19 points once (27 in a 13-point loss to Fresno State). If Wyoming can make a couple of early trips to the end zone in this one I don’t see the Rebels keeping pace.
