The Ole Miss Rebels host the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the battle of the Egg Bowl on Saturday in college football action from Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Mississippi State enters this one at 2-5 in the 2020 college football season. The Bulldogs managed to take out Vanderbilt a few weeks back but lost their last game to Georgia. As for Ole Miss, they’re 3-4 on the season. The Rebels have won consecutive games over Vanderbilt and South Carolina in their last pair of outings. Mississippi State opened with a nice win over LSU 44-34 but then hit the skids with losses 21-14 to Arkansas, 24-2 to Kentucky, 28-14 to Texas A&M and 41-0 to Alabama. The 24-17 victory over Vanderbilt was a nice respite from the losing streak, but the Bulldogs fell again this past weekend 31-24 to Georgia.

In the loss to Georgia, Mississippi State QB Will Rogers posted 336 yards and a TD off 41-of-52 passing. Dillon Johnson had eight carries for just 19 yards rushing but scored twice, and Jaden Walley had seven catches for 115 yards and a TD.

Over on the Ole Miss side, it’s been a pretty wild ride so far. The Rebels opened up at 1-4 with losses to tough squads in Florida, Alabama, Arkansas and Auburn. Over the last two games however, Ole Miss has gathered some great offensive momentum, putting away Vanderbilt 54-21 and South Carolina 59-42.

In the win over the Gamecocks, Mississippi quarterback Matt Corral posted 513 yards with four touchdowns. Jerrion Ealy did the bulk of the work on the ground with 17 carries for 84 yards and two scores, while Elijah Moore went off on 13 receptions, 225 yards and two touchdowns of his own.

Mississippi State is 6-2 ATS in their last eight games in November and 4-11 ATS in their last 15 road games. The Bulldogs are 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall and 1-6 ATS in their last seven after an ATS win.

Meanwhile, the Rebels are 4-1 ATS in their last five games in November and 5-2 ATS versus a team with a losing record. Ole Miss is 4-0 ATS in their last four after a straight-up win and the over is 4-1 in their last five home games.

PICK: I’m going Ole Miss here. Granted, the Rebels have been giving away points by the truckload this season, like 63 to Alabama, 51 to Florida and 42 to South Carolina. That said, Ole Miss can score with the best of them. They’ve notched at least 21 points in every game this season, and 35 or more in five of seven outings. Mississippi State just doesn’t have the gas to keep up with that kind of offensive output.
