The Alabama Crimson Tide host their rival the Auburn Tigers as they square off in Week 13 SEC college football action in another installment of the Iron Bowl from Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa on Saturday afternoon.
The Auburn Tigers will look to build on their current three-game winning streak after picking up a 30-17 win over Tennessee to improve to 5-2 on the year. Bo Nix has thrown for 1,627 yards, 10 touchdowns and 5 interceptions on 61.3% passing while Tarik Bigsby leads the Tigers in rushing with 527 rushing yards and 5 TDs. Nix has 284 rushing yards while D.J. Williams and Shaun Shivers each have 150+ rushing yards this season. Seth Williams leads Auburn’s receiving group with 561 receiving yards and 3 TDs while Anthony Schwartz has a team-high 41 grabs for 506 yards and 3 TDs and Eli Stove has 249 receiving yards and 3 scores as well this season. On defense, Zakoby McClain leads the Tigers with 68 total tackles while Owen Pappoe has 65 total tackles with a team-high 43 solo tackles. Colby Wooden also has a team-high 3 sacks this season.
The Alabama Crimson Tide will look to remain the top team in the country after improving their mark to 7-0 on the year after a 63-3 rout of Kentucky last time out. Mac Jones has thrown for 2,426 yards, 18 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on 77.1% passing while Najee Harris leads the Tide in rushing with 797 rushing yards and a team-high 16 rushing touchdowns. Brian Robinson Jr. also has 230 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns while DeVonta Smith leads Alabama in receiving with 65 catches for 903 yards and 10 touchdowns this year. John Metchie III has 535 receiving yards and 4 TDs the previously mentioned Harris has 210 receiving yards while Miller Forristall and Slade Bolden each have 100+ receiving yards. On defense, Dylan Moses leads the Tide with 50 total tackles including 29 solo tackles while Christian Harris has a team-high 38 solo tackles as part of his 49 total tackles. Christopher Allen leads Bama with 3 sacks while Daniel Wright and Malachi Moore each have a pair of interceptions.
Auburn is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games after allowing 20 points or less in their previous game while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall and 4-0 in their last 4 road games. Alabama is 6-0 ATS in their last 6 home games and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record. The home team is 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.
I get why the points with Auburn are tempting as this is one of the premier rivalries in the SEC and 24 points feels like and is an absolute ton. However, this line is where it is for a reason as Auburn’s recent surge offensively have come against subpar opposition and even still, the Tigers have still been average for much of the season. Alabama’s been beating on teams left and right this season, need to keep winning decisively to make their case for the top spot in the playoff and I’m sure that Alabama hasn’t forgotten about their loss to Auburn last year that sealed their fate and is arguably the reason why Bama missed out on the playoffs last year. I think Alabama comes out and makes a statement in this game, so while it may not be a popular pick, I’ll lay the points with Alabama in this spot.
